Casey's Story-Two Long Lost Dogs Returned - January, 2006
I want to express my gratitude to Critter Corner for the wonderful work that they do for the animallovers in our area. I also want to personally thank them for my own success story.
On Dec. 12 [2005] my pets ran off exploring after the gate had been left open to their backyard environment. They have long legs and a lot of curiosity and they must have ran far and fast. They had also just had their breakfast and were off on a full stomach. The only thing I could do was leave the gate open and search for them. I notified the animal control officer and also Lance at KGGF so he could announce the missing pups on Open Line.
My co-workers at Dixon Ind. told me about Critter Corner, the website on SEKmarketplace.com. My co-worker Judy is also an animal lover and had really good things to say about Jim at Critter Corner. I emailed my missing dog information to him and just as Judy said, I promptly received an e-mail letting me know that my information had been posted on the site and the lost animal posse had been alerted.
I kept looking for them each day and checking the dog pound. Each day that went by was more and more depressing. The weather turned colder and I was starting to tell myself that this was it. Too much time had passed with no sign of them. I probably wasn't going to see them again. There was such a huge emptiness at home.
I had gotten Draco and Mina when they were 6 weeks old on my birthday Feb. 1. They were born on Dec. 21, 1997.They are litter mates and have never been apart. Days went by and they were still lost. My co-workers were concerned and anxious for me. They were looking out for my dogs and kept asking each day if I had good news. Finally they could see that it was time to quit asking me about them. It was just too hard to accept the loss. I was discussing my loss with another co-worker, Jeff who also loves dogs and has a beloved Great Dane, Molly. That day was Dec 21. I told Jeff that it was my pups' birthday. They would be 9 years old. Jeff said, "I bet they come home today." He was trying to encourage me. I was terribly sad.
That night the call came! A fellow animal lover, Mr. Taylor, phoned and said that he had seen a Doberman near his home for a couple of mornings in a row. He had seen my phone number posted through Critter Corner and called! An hour later my pups were back! Terribly thin and scratched up, but together and happily HOME! On Dec 21! Their birthday! It was absolutely a Christmas miracle for my family. Thank you, Mr. Taylor and Jim and Susan at Critter Corner! Also, thank you to all my friends at work and in the community for the concern and prayers and help in looking out for my pets.
